What’s up, and what’s next
You know my work. Now let’s switch frequencies to what’s up behind the scenes. Between the media I appear in, the articles I write, and the content I consume, here’s a look at the signals that amplify my work.

HIGHLIGHTS
I hopped on the airwaves for a guest spot, then moderated a fireside chat at Apple Developer Academy. The mics were hot. That’s your cue to crank up those speakers.

UNIQUEWAYS PODCAST INTERVIEW

Host Thomas Girard ran me through his classic twenty questions on episode 238. Being invited to share the same airwaves as former guests like Don Norman and Chris Do was a definitive career highlight.
A memorable question from the episode was what I don’t want to do. I replied: “Uninspired work. Good design doesn’t have to follow trends. I’m less interested in doing work that looks like everything else and more interested in creating work that solves business problems.”

APPLE DEVELOPER ACADEMY CHAT MODERATION

Detroit’s two-day interaction design event explored the intersection of AI and human-centered design. I moderated a conversation with friend and author Jon Yablonski. I brought the prompts, he brought the principles, together we brought the house down.
Two of my favorite questions I asked him: “Is your book Laws of UX a shield for ethical design or a weapon in the wrong hands?” He called it a shield. And “Are we living in a simulation?” He thinks maybe. I think if we are, I’d like a word with engineering.

WhAT’S YOUR SOFTWARE REALLY SAYING?

You hear them every day—initialisms like API, UX, UI, and IXD, all part of the tech industry’s alphabet soup of jargon. Keeping your organization at the forefront involves staying attuned to how these terms shape the ever-evolving expectations of users and the technologies we use. As this narrative expands, two letters gradually emerge from beneath the surface—A and I.

Why Product Designers Must Write

Is writing part of a product designer’s job? Sure, our expertise is designing products with engaging experiences — whether it’s researching, understanding audiences or creating wireframes. Our work also includes providing development specs and creating high-fidelity UIs. But to write? Someone else will do that…right? Think again.
